The Long Shop Museum aims to keep alive the industrial heritage of East Suffolk, from the manufacturing cathedral that is the Long Shop itself, to the stories and achievements of the people whose skill and effort turned a Suffolk coastal market town into a Victorian engineering powerhouse. The museum is scheduled to open on Tuesday 4th June 2024 and features a range of exhibits and collections that showcase the history and legacy of the Long Shop. Visitors can explore the museum's online shop, learn more about the history and legacy of the Long Shop, and even donate to support the museum's work. The Long Shop Museum is an independent museum run by a registered charitable trust, and all the money from ticket sales, merchandise purchases, and fundraising goes into preserving and developing the museum and its collections.
The museum's friendly staff, interesting exhibits, and good value for money have been praised by visitors.
