At Hazeltots Pre-School, we are proud to have been serving the local community for over 25 years. Established in 1992, we are a non-profit making organisation managed by local families for the benefit of local families. Our roots run deep in the heart of the community, and we are committed to providing a nurturing and educational environment for children from the ages of 2 to 5.
Our Services
Hazeltots offers term-time care and education for children between the ages of 2 and 5. We provide a unique combination of traditional preschool activities and innovative learning experiences that cater to the diverse needs of our children. Our programmes are carefully designed to promote social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development, helping each child to grow and thrive.
Our facilities are designed to provide a stimulating and engaging environment for children to learn and play. We have a large indoor space filled with a variety of toys, games, and activities that encourage creativity, imagination, and exploration. Our outdoor garden area is equally impressive, providing a safe and secure space for children to enjoy fresh air, freedom, and adventure.
At Hazeltots, we also offer Forest School sessions as part of our provision. Forest School is an inspirational process that offers ALL learners regular opportunities to achieve and develop confidence and self-esteem through hands-on learning experiences in a woodland environment. Our Forest School leaders and assistants ensure that every child has the opportunity to take part in these sessions, which are thoroughly risk assessed and designed to promote independence, responsibility, and a sense of self-worth.
Our Forest School Philosophy
The ethos of Forest School is based on developing self-esteem, confidence, independence, and responsibility in people of all ages and ability. Our aim is to ensure that every child develops an inquisitive and positive relationship with the natural world, in preparation for an ever-changing world and for them to have the opportunity to achieve their full potential. Forest School is based more on the process of learning rather than the content, more the 'how' than the 'what'. This means that true Forest School moves away from planned activities, and is more unplanned, unexpected, and unlimited. Our Forest School sessions are designed to inspire, stimulate, and bring learning to life, using various tools and natural resources.

By participating in Forest School, children can develop a range of skills and attributes, including self-motivation, teamwork, co-operation, problem-solving, and resourcefulness. Our Forest School sessions also provide children with the opportunity to take risks, make decisions, and evaluate their own choices, promoting independence and responsibility. Moreover, there is now increasing evidence to show that Forest School experiences enhance all areas of a child's development, from social and emotional skills to physical and cognitive abilities.
