Brewing excellence, one cup at a time.

A Legacy of Handcrafted Beauty

Rye Pottery, nestled in the heart of Sussex, England, boasts a heritage spanning centuries. Founded in the late 18th century, we are a family-owned business that has remained steadfast in our commitment to producing exquisite handmade ceramics. Combining artistry, craftsmanship, and meticulous attention to detail, we have established ourselves as one of the few production potteries in the world to continue the age-old art of hand-painting ceramics.

Timeless Designs & Artistic Influences

Our designs are a captivating blend of history and contemporary influence. Informed by traditional European techniques like Faience, Majolica, and Delftware, our pieces feature rich colors, intricate patterns, and graceful shapes. Each collection whispers stories of the past, while reflecting the unique aesthetic of the present.

A Masterful Production Process

From concept to creation, every Rye Pottery piece undergoes a meticulous journey. Our skilled team of ceramists, sculptors, and painters meticulously handcraft each item, ensuring unparalleled quality and individuality. Each piece undergoes over 12 hand processes, from shaping to firing and hand-painting. This painstaking attention to detail results in pieces that are as visually stunning as they are tactilely delightful.

From Classic to Contemporary

Our diverse range caters to a variety of tastes and aesthetics. From our elegant Mid-Century Modern pieces to our captivating English Figures and charming Animal & Bird collections, there's something for every home. We also reinterpret classic narratives through contemporary reinterpretations of historical designs like The Canterbury Tales and The Bayeux Tapestry.

A History Rich in Tradition

Throughout our long and illustrious history, Rye Pottery has witnessed numerous defining moments. From our humble beginnings in the late 18th century to our resurgence after World War II, each generation has left its unique mark on our legacy. Today, we are proudly run by the third generation of the Cole family, upholding the tradition of excellence and innovation that has become synonymous with our name.
