Welcome to Micklands Pre-School, a nurturing environment where little hands and big achievements come together. Since its inception in the early 1970s, our pre-school has been committed to providing high-quality early years education to children from the local community. Our story began as a playgroup formed by parents, driven by a shared vision of supporting the local community. Over the years, we have evolved to meet the changing needs of young children and their families, while remaining true to our core values of partnership, inclusivity, and a commitment to excellence.

Our Services

At Micklands Pre-School, we offer a wide range of services designed to cater to the unique needs of each child. Our expertly trained and qualified staff work closely with parents to create a bespoke educational experience that fosters a deep love for learning, creativity, and exploration. Our services include:

• Early Years Education: We provide a comprehensive curriculum that addresses the intellectual, social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development of children from 'Rising 3s' to primary school age.
• Play-Based Learning: We believe in the power of play to promote creativity, problem-solving skills, and social skills. Our play-based learning approach encourages children to explore, experiment, and learn through play.
• Inclusive Environment: We welcome children and families from all sections of the local community, regardless of ethnicity, gender, special education needs, disabilities, background, religion, or competency in spoken English.
• Community Outreach: We actively engage with the local community, partnering with relevant organizations and stakeholders to provide additional support services and resources for our children and families.

Our pre-school is registered with Ofsted and is regularly inspected to ensure we meet the highest standards of quality and safety. Our dedicated staff work tirelessly to provide an environment that is safe, welcoming, and inclusive for all children.

How to Register Your Child

To register your child at Micklands Pre-School, please complete our Registration Form and return it to us at the pre-school address. We do not charge a fee for adding your child to our list for admission. Click here to download a copy of our Registration Form and read our Privacy Notice.

Admissions Process

Our main admission of new children takes place every September at the beginning of each new school year in the Autumn Term. We operate admissions and allocate sessions to new children through our Waiting List. A completed Registration Form must be received to add a child to our Waiting List. The Registration Form must be received before any deadline we set in order for a child to be added to the Waiting List for admission in September. Our Waiting List is generally arranged in date of birth order with oldest children taking priority, regardless of the time spent on the Waiting List.

Priority Admissions

We reserve the right to consider applications for Priority Admission over our normal Waiting List. Priority Admissions follow a recommendation from an appropriate professional, for example a GP, Health Visitor, Social Worker, or Speech Therapist, that entry to the pre-school would be of real benefit to the child concerned.
