Welcome to Shire House, a residential care home located in the picturesque town of Lyme Regis, overlooking Dorset's Lyme Bay and the Jurassic Coast. Our Edwardian building has undergone significant refurbishment to provide a comfortable and modern living space for our residents, while retaining its original character and charm.
At Shire House, we strive to provide a homely, safe, and caring environment for older people, respecting their right to choose their own lifestyle and actively supporting them to realise their aspirations. Our History
Shire House was purchased in August 2017 by Chris and Lorraine Nichols, who are also the directors of Sentry Care Ltd. Lorraine is the "Responsible Individual" and can be contacted at our Sidmouth Road address in Lyme Regis. Our aim is to provide a caring and supportive community for our residents, and we are committed to achieving this goal through our dedicated team of staff and volunteers.
Our Services
We offer a range of services to our residents, including permanent, respite, intermediate, and day care. Our experienced and qualified staff are dedicated to providing high-quality care and support to our residents, and we are registered with The Care Quality Commission. We believe in promoting independence, dignity, and respect for our residents, and we strive to create a warm and welcoming atmosphere in our home.
Our Staff
Our staff play a vital role in the care and support of our residents, and we are proud to have a talented and dedicated team at Shire House. Our manager, Marie, has a Level 4 NVQ in Care and Level 4 Leadership and Management in Care (LMC), and our senior carers and care assistants all have NVQ's in Care. We also have a range of other staff members, including an Activities Co-ordinator, cooks, a housekeeper, handyman, and gardener, who all work together to provide a high level of care and support to our residents.

Initial Impressions
The reviewer, Stephen Sampson, initially had a poor experience when searching for a care home for his aunt, with other homes wasting his time by showing him unavailable rooms. However, after a personal recommendation, he contacted Shire House and was able to view the home immediately.
Care and Staff
The reviewer was extremely impressed with the care provided to his aunt at Shire House. The staff made him and his family feel welcome and special. He was particularly struck by the genuine care and compassion shown by the staff, which was evident in their conversations with his aunt.
Overcoming Challenges
Shire House was able to accommodate his aunt's needs, bringing her 80 miles from the hospital to be closer to her family. The reviewer credits the home with providing the best care possible for his aunt.
