Shine Theatre School is a dance and theatre school for children and adults located in Litherland, Liverpool L21 2PB. At Shine Theatre School, we offer dance classes for beginners and advanced dancers, as well as theatre acting drama classes. Our dance teachers are passionate about nurturing young talent and helping all dancers, young and old, to reach their full potential.

Our Dance Classes

At Shine Theatre School, we offer a variety of dance classes for children and adults. Our dance classes are designed for both beginners and advanced dancers. Our experienced dance teachers will help you realise your dance potential, or help you recapture the passion for dance that you once had. We believe that dance is a form of self-expression and we strive to create a welcoming and inclusive environment for all of our students.

Theatre Acting Drama Classes

In addition to our dance classes, we also offer theatre acting drama classes. Our theatre acting drama classes are designed to help students develop their confidence, creativity, and communication skills. We believe that the stage is a place for everyone, and we strive to help our students discover their unique voice and style as actors.

About the Principal and Owner

Hello! My name is Miss Wendy, and I am the principal and owner of Shine Theatre School. I have been teaching dance and drama since I was 14 years old, and I have a passion for helping students discover their love for dance and theatre. I trained at Merseyside Dance & Drama Centre and graduated as a fully qualified dance teacher with the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dance. I have had the opportunity to dance professionally on cruise ships in the Mediterranean & Middle East, and in a cabaret show in a luxury spa hotel in Japan. I founded Shine Theatre School in September 2000 with just 16 students, and we have grown to over 100 students who have performed in Disneyland Paris, Sadlers Wells London, and the Palace Theatre Manchester. I am committed to providing high-quality dance and theatre education, and I regularly seek training and studies for myself to enhance my students' learning and growth.

Examinations and Opportunities

At Shine Theatre School, we offer examinations in ISTD dance subjects. These examinations are an internationally recognised mark of progression, and they are regulated by OFQUAL. Our students have gone on to study dance professionally in some of the best colleges in the North West, including The Hammond School, LIPA, and Studio 10. We provide our students with amazing opportunities to perform in various locations, including London's West End, The Royal Albert Hall, Las Vegas, London Olympic Stadium, Benidorm Palace, and Blackpool Tower Ballroom. In the near future, we will dance in Majorca and New York!

Teaching Philosophy

At Shine Theatre School, we believe that dance and theatre are forms of self-expression and exploration. We strive to get to know each and every student, and we encourage a journey of self-discovery within our classes. We believe that it is okay to make mistakes and grow from them, and we encourage students to ask questions and explore self-expression through dance and theatre. Our teachers do not rest on their laurels; we are constantly seeking training and studies for ourselves to enhance our students' learning and growth.
