Our Curriculum and Approach to Learning
At Puffins, we believe that children learn best through play. We follow the Revised Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum, which focuses on three prime areas of development:
1. Personal, social and emotional development
2. Physical development
3. Communication and Language
In addition to these prime areas, we also focus on four more specific educational areas:
1. Literacy
2. Mathematics
3. Understanding the world
4. Expressive Arts and Design
Our approach to learning is centred around enabling children to express themselves, explore the world around them, and build strong relationships with their peers and adults. Through a variety of play-based activities, we support children in developing social, emotional, and developmental skills, while also promoting their overall wellbeing.
Starting at Puffins
At Puffins, children can start from the age of 2. Once your child is registered with us, we will contact you the half term before they turn 2, to discuss when you would like your child to start the following term or if you would like to wait until they are 3. We invite you and your child to visit us in the half term before your child starts, to familiarise yourselves with the pre-school and the team.
