Whittal Seeds Ltd is an independent farmer-owned and managed business with a rich history dating back to 1935. As a third-generation family-run business, we have a deep understanding of the importance of high-quality grass seed for agricultural, amenity, and forage purposes. Our team of experts, led by Philip Whittal, a 3rd generation farmer, has extensive knowledge of the seed production process and various grass species, allowing us to formulate mixtures tailored to specific soil, climate, and growing conditions.

We supply a comprehensive range of grass seed mixtures, from short-term to long-term leys, green manure, forage, and root crops, as well as specialist mixes for orchards, soft fruit tunnels and beds, equestrian, poultry, sport, and amenity requirements. Our seed is tested to the highest national and international standards, and we work closely with a network of reputable seed growers to ensure the quality and reliability of our products.

Grass Seed

Our extensive range of grass seed mixtures is designed to meet the specific needs of our customers, whether they require short-term, medium-term, or long-term leys. We offer overseeding, equine, and poultry mixes, as well as specialist orchard, sport, lawn, commercial, and environmental options. These grass seed mixtures include specific species that are available in straights or can be mixed to your specification.

SFI

Our SFI (Sustainable Farming Incentive) mixtures are specifically designed to meet the requirements of the low and no input grassland standard of the Sustainable Farming Incentive pilot. These mixtures are formulated to promote biodiversity, soil health, and ecosystem services while minimising the use of inputs such as fertilisers and pesticides.

Forage and Game Cover
