Portishead Pre School

Portishead Pre-School (formerly Portishead Playgroups) is a well-established pre-school setting that has been serving the community for over 60 years. We operate two settings, Hilltop Pre-School and Brampton Pre-School, both situated in the town of Portishead, North Somerset. Our team of dedicated and experienced staff provides excellent pre-school education to children aged 2-4 years old.

Our Philosophy

Our motto is "Learning Through Play, " and we believe that children learn best when they are engaged in activities that are both fun and stimulating. Our approach is based on the EYFS Development Matters framework, which focuses on providing a wide range of experiences that promote children's social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development. We plan our activities and topics around the children's interests, which enables them to develop their skills and knowledge in a playful and enjoyable way.

Our Settings

Both Hilltop Pre-School and Brampton Pre-School offer large outdoor spaces, a wide range of resources, and a team of dedicated and experienced staff. We operate during term time and offer 15 and 30 hour funded places for 3 and 4-year-olds, with Hilltop Pre-School also offering 2-year-old funded places. We have morning, afternoon, and all-day sessions available, and there are no restrictions on which sessions can be used for funded places, with no additional fees except for a small charge for our lunch club.

Our Team

Portishead Pre-School is run by a voluntary Management Committee, made up of parents and members of the community. Our team of experienced staff has extensive knowledge and understanding of the needs of pre-school children. Each setting is led by an experienced manager, and we work together to provide a seamless learning experience for our children.

Admissions

Demand for our places is high, and we operate a waiting list. We allocate sessions for the following September to children who are already attending Brampton or Hilltop Pre-schools and will be returning for another year. Then, from February, we start offering sessions to the children on our waiting list, in age order, starting with the eldest.
