Westmeria Counselling Services

At Westmeria Counselling, we believe that everyone deserves to have someone to turn to when they need help navigating the challenges of life. We are a primarily voluntary organisation, established in 2003, dedicated to serving the local community in and around Bickley, including Bromley, Penge, Beckenham, Chislehurst, Mottingham, and Petts Wood. Our mission is to provide affordable and accessible counselling services to those in need, with a particular focus on those suffering from depression.

Our organisation is unique in that we do not charge a set fee for our counselling sessions. Instead, we rely on the generous donations of our clients, which provides us with the opportunity to help even more people in need. We are a longer-term agency, with an upper limit of 24 sessions after the initial appointment, and each session lasts for 50 minutes. Our goal is to create a commitment between ourselves and our clients, viewing the donation as a valuable part of the therapeutic process.

Westmeria Counselling gained charity status in September 2005, which has enabled us to start fundraising and help even more people. Since then, we have already helped over 4000 people, and we plan to continue to help many more in the future.

Our Services

We offer a range of counselling services, all of which are provided by qualified and experienced counsellors who are members of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy. Our services include:

• Private Counselling: We offer private counselling for those who can afford to pay for sessions, with the proceeds going towards funding our other services.
• Low-Cost Counselling: We offer low-cost counselling for those who cannot afford private counselling but still need support. Our sliding scale fee system ensures that our services remain accessible and affordable.
• Counselling for Depression: We specialise in providing counselling services for those suffering from depression, with the aim of reversing the trend of reliance on anti-depressants.

The Future

At Westmeria Counselling, we are always looking for ways to expand and improve our services. We are currently offering group sessions under the name "Tools for Life, " which have been a great success. Our aim is to continue building on our existing services while remaining committed to providing affordable and accessible counselling services to those in need.
