Our Services
At Dumfries Osteopathic Clinic, we recognise that every patient is unique and as such, we tailor our treatments to the individual. We treat patients with a broad range of conditions from head to toe. While some patients may only require a single treatment, others will benefit from a course of treatment. Many of our patients choose to see their osteopath periodically over the long term to manage ongoing issues.
Patients with the following conditions have found relief through osteopathic treatment: back pain, headaches, neck and shoulder pain, sciatica, joint and muscle strain, conditions during pregnancy, sports injuries, arthritic pain, Repetitive Strain Injury (RSI), fibromyalgia, and digestion problems.
Mothers and Children Clinic
Julian and Rosie have a particular interest in treating ante natal and post natal women, as well as children. This approach allows for mothers and children to be treated at the same time and in the same room, creating a more relaxed environment for both parties. Our osteopaths take great care in providing gentle, effective treatment for all of our patients.
What is Osteopathy?
Osteopathy is a holistic approach to diagnosis and treatment that focuses on identifying and resolving the root cause of symptoms rather than simply alleviating them. By improving function in areas causing symptoms, osteopathy can restore health. Osteopathy is a suitable therapy for all ages, including children and the elderly.
Cranial Osteopathy
Cranial osteopathy is a method of treatment that uses particularly gentle techniques. Through subtle movements, strains and tensions throughout the body can be released. This soft approach makes it particularly suitable for the treatment of children and the elderly, although all ages can benefit.
History of Osteopathy
Osteopathy was established over 100 years ago in the USA and has since spread worldwide. In 1917, the British School of Osteopathy was founded and in 1935, a voluntary Register of Osteopaths was set up, which culminated in the Osteopaths Act in 1993. This legislation recognises the professional status of osteopathy and provides protection by regulating the profession. Legally, anyone practicing osteopathy must be registered with the General Osteopathic Council.
At Dumfries Osteopathic Clinic, we are proud to offer safe, gentle, and effective osteopathic treatment, and we welcome patients of all ages to our practice.
