Our Purpose and Intent

Our purpose is to provide early years focused education in a caring and nurturing environment. We aim to achieve this by implementing a high-quality curriculum that is tailored to meet the needs and interests of our children. Our curriculum is designed to support the Characteristics of Effective Learning, which helps prepare children for their next steps in life.

Learning Through Play

In the new EYFS, there is a greater emphasis on how children learn. The Characteristics of Effective Learning and the prime and specific Areas of Learning and Development are all interconnected. At Rising Stars Nursery, we believe that learning through play is essential to a child's development. We provide opportunities for children to play and explore, be active learners, and think critically, underpinning learning and development across all areas.

The prime areas of learning begin to develop quickly in response to relationships and experiences, and run through and support learning in all other areas. The prime areas continue to be fundamental throughout the EYFS. These prime areas include Personal, Social and Emotional Development, Physical Development, and Communication and Language. The specific areas include essential skills and knowledge that grow out of the prime areas and provide important contexts for learning. These areas are Literacy, Mathematics, Understanding the World, and Expressive Arts and Design.
