Our slowly fermented European breads, made using our sourdough starter cultures, are "clean" and vegan, and we also offer a range of vegan cakes and viennoiserie. We take pride in producing quality products at reasonable prices using traditional, time-honoured methods. Our products are delivered to discerning outlets throughout West and Central Scotland, and we are proud to have grown our business through word of mouth and consistently high-quality products.

Our Journey

The Bavarian Bakehouse was started in 1984 by the Scottish/German family, the Wichmann's, and has since grown through word of mouth and consistently high-quality products. In 2011, the McShane family took over the bakery and have continued to grow the business, retaining the original bakers and expanding our product range. In 2017, we moved to new premises in Cumbernauld to enable us to continue to grow, and in 2019, we built a separate gluten-free bakery to cater to the growing demand for high-quality gluten-free products.
