The Weekend Day Centre for Dementia Care is a registered charity providing a weekend and bank holiday care facility for people with a formal diagnosis of dementia and their carers within the Stockport borough, including Marple. We are dedicated to providing an informal social environment that supports the unique needs of individuals living with dementia, as well as their carers.
Our Story
The Weekend Day Centre has a rich history, dating back to December 1991 when we first started in Stockport. We achieved charity status in 1993 and have since been committed to providing exceptional care and support to those affected by dementia. In 1999, we gained national recognition by being awarded first place in the Carers Scheme category at the Social Care Awards. This achievement was a testament to our dedication to providing outstanding care and support to our clients and their carers.
Our Services
We offer a wide range of activities to suit all tastes and abilities for people who live with a dementia. Our activities include crafts, quizzes, bingo, games, and gardening, ensuring that our clients have a varied and engaging experience. We also provide external entertainment every afternoon, featuring singers, dancers, choirs, and comedians, among others. Additionally, we celebrate all personal, national, and important events, including birthdays, anniversaries, mothers' day, and Valentine's day, making our clients feel special and loved. Our mornings are spent doing lots of activities, or simply sitting quietly if that is preferred - whatever our clients feel like doing. We also take care of any personal care needs as and when required, and provide breakfast, a 3-course lunch, and an afternoon tea.

Our goal is to provide a welcoming and supportive environment where individuals living with dementia can feel comfortable, relaxed, and engaged. We strive to provide a sense of community and belonging, where our clients can socialize, participate in activities, and enjoy entertainment, while also receiving the care and support they need. We are committed to providing a high-quality service that meets the unique needs of our clients and their carers, and to continue to raise awareness about dementia and its impact on individuals and families.
