Meet Our Instructor
Our instructor, Catherine Ogilvy-Stuart, has over 20 years of experience in the Pilates method. She has owned and run South Devon Pilates since 2013, teaching Pilates matwork and equipment at her studio in Central Torquay. Catherine is fully insured to teach both matwork and studio equipment and regularly attends workshops, conferences, and courses to keep abreast of new techniques and developments.
The Benefits of Pilates
Pilates has been adapted to suit all people and can help improve flexibility, increase muscle strength and tone, balance muscular strength, enhance muscular control, and improve posture. It can also aid in the rehabilitation or prevention of injuries related to muscle imbalances and improve physical coordination and balance. Pilates requires concentration, finding a center point to control your body through movement, which can also improve concentration and increase body awareness.
Accommodation
Our retreats are held at the beautiful Shippon, a rustic, detached barn located just outside Totnes. The Shippon has magnificent views down to the River Dart and provides a peaceful and relaxing environment perfect for our Pilates retreats. The accommodation has been designed with large groups in mind, providing all the equipment, space, and facilities needed to ensure that everyone has an enjoyable break.
The Daily Schedule
Our daily schedule includes morning Pilates sessions, afternoon walks on Dartmoor, and delicious healthy meals. You'll have time to relax and unwind in the evenings, enjoying the peaceful surroundings of the Shippon. Our retreats are designed to help you take time to focus on yourself, where you'll feel supported, rejuvenated, and rested.
