Suffolk Swimming is a highly esteemed, privately operated swimming school that has been serving the Martlesham, Woodbridge, and Ipswich areas since 1988. Our school boasts a 15-meter indoor heated pool with dedicated changing facilities, located in a serene woodland setting near the river Deben. The tranquil surroundings provide an ideal environment for learners to develop both confidence and competence in the water.

Our Facilities

Our facility is conveniently situated just off the A12 at Martlesham, offering ample free parking and easy access for our clients. The pool is set in a beautiful woodland area, creating a peaceful and scenic atmosphere that enhances the learning experience. Our Team

At Suffolk Swimming, we take great pride in our dedicated and highly qualified team of instructors. All of our staff hold up-to-date Life Saving qualifications, regularly attend seminars and updates, and are DBS checked. Our team is committed to providing a safe and enjoyable learning environment for all our students.

*Theresa Bex Elmer, Swimschool Proprietor and Instructor*: With over 40 years of teaching experience, Theresa has been sharing her love and knowledge of swimming since 1980. She has taught thousands of babies, children, and adults and continues to inspire new generations of swimmers.

*Brenda Lawes, Teacher*: Brenda's passion for swimming and teaching has been a driving force at Suffolk Swimming for 35 years. Her dedication to perfecting stroke technique has helped countless students achieve their swimming goals.

*Tony McGlone, Teacher and Lifesaving trainer*: Tony brings 22 years of experience to our team, specializing in snorkelling, Lifesaving, and training our staff to the highest level of water safety.

*Jo Palmer, Teacher and admin assistant*: As a former student herself, Jo embodies the Suffolk Swimming spirit. She teaches pre-schoolers, beginners, and improvers with empathy and sensitivity, while also coaching the synchronised swimming team and choreographing routines.
