At Southlands Care Home, we are dedicated to providing a comfortable and entertaining lifestyle for our residents, with a focus on activities, good food, and personal care. Our beautifully appointed home is designed to communicate comfort and elegance at its heart, with two large, air-conditioned lounges and a custom-fitted open-plan dining room.
About Our Services
We offer a range of activities for our residents, including regular entertainers, full-time activities coordinators, and care team members who love to have a laugh and joke. Our beautiful garden is the perfect setting for high tea and other summer events. Our food is an indulgent pleasure, with a range of options at each meal, wines, and other tipples, and special taster plates to sample dishes from around the world.
Our Unique Approach
As a smaller home, we are proud to be able to offer care with a personal touch. Everyone in our team knows our residents well, and we pride ourselves on getting to know each person individually and learning about the little things that matter to them. Our managers are key to the service and they meet with every resident weekly and do at least one shift on the care floor every week to make sure they stay close to the care.
Partnership with Family and Friends
We see care as being a partnership between you, the Home, and Family, so we make every effort to involve your Family as part of a three-way process in your care. Family members are given plenty of opportunities to take part in your care, with unrestricted access to the Home, regular updates with staff and management, and private appointments with our staff regarding your care whenever necessary.
A Vibrant Place to Be
At Southlands, you'll never be bored or lonely. We have scheduled activities held twice a day, including visits from the local pre-school, music afternoons, bingo, quizzes, animal therapy, light exercise sessions, and live music entertainment. We also organise special outings to cafes, shops, and restaurants around the area. We maintain strong links with the local community and our residents are often invited to charity and local church events.
Living with Purpose
While some of our residents join and just want a place where they can be safe and enjoy the amenities, many benefit from our Living with Purpose scheme. Contributing to things such as the running of the home or fundraising for charities or local concerns has been shown to provide benefits to the emotional and physical wellbeing.
Food and Drink
Food is one of life's pleasures. As such, our menus include a combination of traditional and non-traditional dishes designed to satisfy all tastes, home-cooked with nutritious ingredients that are delivered twice each week. If you like a tipple, red and white wine is available to pair with your meal.
Personalised Bedrooms
We want your bedroom to be a home-from-home and encourage you to personalise it to make it your own. Each room is lovingly decorated in cool, calming tones and designed to help you relax. Available in-room facilities include TV with Freeview, WiFi, full furnishing, telephone or access to the main-line cordless phones to take calls where you wish, and an emergency call system.
Day Care and Respite
We understand that family or work commitments can make it hard to find a place where you can leave your loved ones in capable hands and provide them with the comfort they deserve. We offer Day Care to individuals who wish to join us during the day but not stay overnight.
