Empowering lives, one conversation at a time.
Help Counselling is a well-established organisation that has been providing affordable short and long-term counselling to the local community in West London for over 50 years. Our mission is to improve people's lives by offering talking therapies, and we have successfully supported thousands of individuals who present with a range of well-being and mental health concerns, including anxiety, stress, or depression.
Our team of experienced and trained counsellors is dedicated to facilitating clients in exploring their issues and finding ways to make a positive change in their lives. Unlike some other services, Help Counselling can often facilitate clients to work long-term and allow them the necessary time and space to work through their issues. However, it is important to note that Help Counselling does not offer a crisis service or emergency response, and our phone lines and emails are only available within office hours.
Services Offered
At Help Counselling, we offer low-cost, short and long-term talking therapies to clients both face-to-face in London and online. Our counselling sessions are weekly and start from 25 online and 35 for in-person, and we occasionally may be able to provide concessions depending on a client's circumstances and our available funding.
Our current waiting times for face-to-face counselling are from between 2-4 weeks, and we have some slots available. We operate from different sites in London, including Little Venice, Wimpole Street, Snow Hill, Fulham, East Putney, and Islington. While we will make every attempt to provide clients with counselling at their preferred location and time, this may not always be possible.
We offer counselling in various languages, including British Sign Language, Cantonese, Chinese, Dutch, Farsi, French, German, Georgian, Hindi, Hungarian, Italian, Japanese, Lithuanian, Polish, Punjabi, Russian, Spanish, Swedish, and Urdu. Assessments must be conducted in English, but we can provide a translator by arrangement.
How to Access Our Services
If you are interested in receiving counselling from Help Counselling, the first step is to complete the enquiry form on our website. You will then be invited to book a 60-minute online assessment, where you can tell us more about yourself and the issue you are facing. We will then conduct an assessment to confirm whether the service is right for you and match you with the right counsellor.
It is important to note that our counsellors are in training with accredited training schools and are provided with ongoing support, including fortnightly clinical supervision from a BACP or UKCP registered supervisor. Once you have chosen to work with a counsellor, your appointment will take place at the same time and on the same day each week for 50 minutes.
At Help Counselling, we ask that clients commit to at least six weeks' worth of sessions in the first instance. However, we also offer long-term counselling, and the number of sessions you can have is not limited. We endeavour to offer clients flexibility regarding availability and when they can access counselling, as this will enable us to offer them a session more quickly.
