Empowering young minds through play, curiosity, and connection

Magpie Preschool is a registered charity dedicated to providing high-quality care and education for children below statutory school age. We are located in Boughton-Under-Blean and are proud to serve our local community. Our phone number is 01227 751404, and our email address is magpiepreschool@outlook.com.

Our aim is to create an inclusive, confident, and happy environment where children can learn and develop. We believe that children learn best through play, and our experienced staff are trained to extend and adapt activities to suit each child's individual needs. We plan activities around topics that have sparked the children's interest, using the curiosity approach and hygge concept to create thought-provoking, interesting, and comfortable surroundings.

We pride ourselves on offering a home-from-home feel at our setting, which includes a large garden and wooded area where children can investigate and connect with nature. Our setting is committed to promoting British values, and we believe that children learn best when parents and staff work together in partnership.

Parents are regarded as members of our setting who have full participatory rights, including the right to be valued, respected, kept informed, consulted, involved, and included at all levels. We are a community-based, voluntary managed setting that depends on the goodwill and involvement of parents to keep going.

Our curriculum is designed to make all children feel included, confident, happy, comfortable, resilient, respected, and valued. We build strong foundations for children to equip them with the skills and knowledge they need to explore, understand, and navigate the wider world around them with kindness, care, and an ability to identify their feelings and resolve conflicts peacefully.

We incorporate the seven areas of learning from the Early Years Foundation Stage into our curriculum, which includes personal, social and emotional development, communication and language development, physical development, literacy, mathematics, understanding the world, and expressive arts and design. Our policies and procedures are available upon request.

Meet the Magpie Team

Our manager, Tracie, holds a Cache Level 3 NVQ in Children's care learning and development. Tracie works closely with her small team of Early Years Educators to ensure that children are actively engaged in activities relating to their interests, allowing them to flourish in their development.

We use a key person approach at our setting, which means that each member of staff has a group of children for whom she/he is particularly responsible. Your child's key person will be the person who works with you to make sure that the childcare we provide is right for your child's particular needs and interests. When your child first starts at our setting, their key person will help your child to settle and throughout their time with us, they will help your child to benefit from the setting.
