Our team of passionate bakers produce a huge range of artisan bread and cakes using traditional methods and the best quality local wheat. From a range of natural, wild yeast sourdough loaves to our famous sticky lardy cakes, everything is handcrafted with time and care.
Our Story
Our story began in 1972 when Derek Coleman opened Cornfield Bakery in the heart of Wheatley, Oxfordshire. Over the years, we have grown and expanded our business, moving our production unit to Long Crendon and opening a second shop in Thame. Today, we are proud to be one of Oxfordshire's leading wholesale bread and cake suppliers, delivering to convenience stores, restaurants, cafes, pubs, hotels, catering companies, schools, colleges, and hospitals across Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire.
Our Services
At Cornfield Bakery, we offer a range of services to cater to different needs. Our wholesale service provides high-quality artisan bread and cakes to businesses across Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire. Our retail shops in Wheatley and Thame offer a wide range of fine foods, local artisan coffee, gift hampers, and more. We also share our knowledge and skills through our one-day Bread Making Courses, held at our bakery in Wheatley.
Our courses are aimed at anyone from complete beginners to more experienced home bakers. Each course covers the science behind the perfect loaf, the history of bread baking, creating and nurturing your own sourdough starter, and troubleshooting and understanding the cause of faults. We cover a variety of loaves and shapes, including sourdough and a very easy 24-hour 'no-knead bread'.
