These highly infectious conditions can easily spread between unvaccinated people, leading to serious problems such as meningitis, hearing loss, and problems during pregnancy. You need two doses of MMR vaccine to protect you, and it's never too late to have your MMR! Search for 'MMR vaccine' on the NHS website to read further information and book a vaccination appointment at Okehampton Medical Centre via Klinik.

Every Saturday, from 10am-12pm, we offer a Mental Wellbeing Drop-In at Okehampton Medical Centre. We are aware that some people find weekends difficult for their mental health, and the new Drop-In will be held every Saturday morning. There will always be a warm welcome, someone to talk to, and a cuppa for anyone who wants to come.

Patient Experiences and Opinions

The review corpus consists of 9 patient reviews of the Okehampton Medical Centre, with a rating ranging from 1 to 5 stars. The majority of the reviews are negative, with a few positive exceptions.

Poor Communication and Staff Attitude

Several reviewers complained about poor communication and unfriendly staff. Gary Strachan, a former paramedic, was appalled by the staff attitude and felt that his medical needs were not prioritized. Anna Frost's mother was given strong pain medication for over 6 months before being diagnosed with a broken femur, leading to a strong sense of disappointment and frustration. Kim Mawdsley also expressed concern about the unqualified receptionist who was responsible for designating priority on patients' medical conditions.

Mixed Opinions on Waiting Times

Niki Robb acknowledged that there might be long waiting times, but praised the doctors, nurses, and other staff for being amazing. However, others, such as Ellis Meade, had a quick turn-around time of 20 minutes. Speedyboolooks noted that getting an appointment with a GP was near impossible, but once through the doors, the surgery was good.

Positive Feedback

On the other hand, some reviewers expressed satisfaction with their experiences. Rachael Boarder praised the professional, kind, and reassuring staff who helped her, while Tom Radcliffe thanked the staff for their excellent care and speedy service. Ellis Meade was relieved to have been seen by a doctor quickly, which allowed him to continue his cycling trip.

Service Issues

Lawrence Harris was frustrated with the lengthy phone wait times, which he felt was an absolute disgrace. Emma Levy was disappointed with the rudeness of the staff, except for one member behind the desk with long dark hair.
