Our Teams

Our school is led by a dedicated team of professionals, who are committed to ensuring that every child receives the best possible education. Our Senior Leadership Team provides strategic direction and oversight, while our Year Group Teams are responsible for the day-to-day delivery of the curriculum. We also have a Pre-School and Nursery Team, an Office and Site Team, a Family Support and Safeguarding Team, and Lunchtime Teams, who all play a vital role in supporting the children's well-being and development.

Services Offered

We offer a wide range of services, including a breakfast club, after-school clubs, and a busy bees out-of-school care club. We also provide support for children with additional needs, including speech and language therapy, and occupational therapy. Our school meals are freshly prepared on-site, and we cater for a range of dietary requirements. We have a medical support team who are available to support children with medical needs, and we have strong links with local healthcare providers.

Curriculum

Our curriculum is designed to provide a broad and balanced education, which enables children to develop the knowledge, skills and understanding they need to succeed in life. We follow the National Curriculum for England, and our curriculum is enriched with a range of extra-curricular activities, including Forest School, music, art, design technology, and physical education. We have a strong focus on literacy and numeracy, and we use a range of teaching strategies to engage and motivate children. We use the Talk for Writing approach, which helps children to develop their writing skills by learning and imitating high-quality model texts. We use the White Rose Maths scheme, which is a mastery approach to teaching mathematics, and we use a range of manipulatives and concrete resources to help children understand mathematical concepts. We have a science curriculum that is delivered through a knowledge organiser approach, which enables children to develop a deep understanding of scientific concepts. We are an Ogden Trust Hub School, which means that we have a strong focus on the teaching of physics.

Life Skills & Well-being

At Bignold Primary School and Nursery, we believe that it is important to develop the whole child, and therefore we place a strong emphasis on life skills and well-being. We have a comprehensive Personal, Social, Health and Economic (PSHE) education programme, which includes Sex and Relationships Education and Health Education. We use the SCARF programme, which is a spiral curriculum that covers all aspects of PSHE. We believe that it is important to listen to the voice of the child, and therefore we have established a pupil voice group, which enables children to express their views and opinions. We have strong links with local services, including the police and public health, and we use local contextual information to inform our curriculum and pastoral support.
