Empowering individuals to lead fulfilling and independent lives
Unicorn Projects Care Services Limited has been providing support for individuals with learning disabilities and associated mental health problems since 1997. As a proud member of the British Institute for Learning Disabilities (BILD), we are dedicated to assisting our service users in exercising their choices, integrating into the community, and developing essential living skills. Our primary focus is on managing challenging behaviour, promoting social inclusion, fostering relationships, and enhancing everyday living skills.
Our Philosophy of Care
At Unicorn Projects, we believe that every individual, regardless of their abilities, should be given the opportunity to lead a full and normal life in a peaceful, happy, and secure environment. Our approach is to encourage independence, treat each person as an individual, and facilitate decision-making and choice-making. We understand that our service users have mixed abilities; thus, we place particular emphasis on promoting independence and helping each person fulfill their potential.
Unicorn House
Unicorn House is a home for adults with learning disabilities and associated mental health problems. This homely residential environment has twelve single rooms, providing a comfortable and secure space for our service users. We take a holistic approach to care, considering the whole person and their needs, preferences, and goals. Our staff work closely with each service user to create a personalised care plan that reflects their unique journey and aspirations.
Facilities & Activities
Unicorn House offers a variety of facilities and activities designed to engage, stimulate, and support our service users. We believe in providing extensive and appropriate social activities, enabling our service users to build relationships, develop new skills, and enjoy their leisure time. Our Day Centre in Central Croydon is a vibrant and inclusive space where service users from various care homes can meet, socialise, and participate in a range of activities. These activities include arts and crafts, shopping trips, and visits to local attractions in London.
Our Staff
Our staff are dedicated, compassionate, and highly trained individuals who are committed to providing the best possible support to our service users. We ensure that all our care staff meet high standards of training and professional development. Staff are expected to have a Diploma Level 2 (or equivalent) in Health and Social Care prior to starting with us in a care role. Additionally, ongoing training and development are provided as recommended by Skills for Care to ensure that our staff remain up-to-date and equipped to meet the diverse needs of our service users.
