About Yoga
Yoga is an ancient practice derived from the Sanskrit word "yuj", which means joining. It is the calm control of the mind and body through breathing and postures, which are designed to develop flexibility, suppleness, and overall well-being. Regular practice of yoga can bring numerous benefits, including improved posture, flexibility, and balance, enhanced emotional well-being, increased self-esteem and confidence, and reduced stress and fatigue.
Pregnancy Yoga (Perinatal Yoga)
Perinatal yoga is a specialised form of yoga that is specifically adapted to suit the needs of pregnant women. It helps expectant mothers enjoy their pregnancy by keeping the body supple without straining, boosting energy, relieving stress and anxiety, promoting restful sleep, reducing the pain of labour and childbirth, and alleviating minor ailments such as heartburn, non-specific lower backache, groin aches, and muscle cramps. Classes are booked in blocks of four weeks and cost 40.00. Pre-booking is required. Classes can be started from week 14 of pregnancy.
Remedial Therapy
Many people need a gentle exercise programme to help them alleviate or recover from a specific ailment. Remedial yoga is an excellent solution. Helen has many years of experience in treating private and Local Authority clients who have physical disabilities, debilitating illnesses (such as stroke, MS, and Parkinson's), and muscular pain associated with back and neck injuries. These programmes not only help relieve the sufferer's symptoms but also improve their overall sense of well-being. Appointments for private one-to-one sessions are on a Saturday morning (8am to 12pm), pre-booking is required. The cost for a one-to-one session is 25.00.
