About Shelagh Wallace

As a registered Experienced Yoga Teacher (EYT) with Yoga Alliance, Shelagh Wallace has crafted a rich yoga tapestry woven from exploration and dedication. Her initial training at the Himalayan Yoga Institute in the picturesque landscapes of Himachal Pradesh, India, introduced her to Rajadhiraja Yoga. Since then, she has immersed herself in various trainings and teachings across the UK and the US, expanding her knowledge and practice. Ashtanga Yoga lies at the core of her personal practice, complemented by the soothing elements of Yin and Restorative disciplines. Influenced by esteemed teachers such as Doug and David Swenson, Melanie Cooper, and Manju Jois, Shelagh continues her journey as both a student and teacher, embracing the understanding that yoga growth is an eternal exploration.

Our Yoga Classes

At Really Wild Yoga, Shelagh offers Ashtanga-based sessions, carefully designed to foster independence and growth over time. She caters to students new to Ashtanga as well as seasoned practitioners, with classes tailored for individual exploration. Ashtanga Vinyasa, practiced within the eight-limbed spiritual framework, encourages physical movement as a means to internal connection. Through consistent practice, we ease tension, build strength, enhance flexibility, and clear the mind. Shelagh is an advocate for discovering the form of yoga that resonates with each individual and believes Ashtanga Yoga's powerful impact on both body and mind makes it a perfect fit for her. Each session serves as a reset, offering immediate benefits that expand over time, fostering rejuvenation and a sense of centredness.

What is Ashtanga Yoga?

As Manju Jois famously said, "Yoga is simple, everything else is complicated." Ashtanga Yoga remains a powerful, transformative practice offering depth, meaning, and change in one's life. With practice, persistence, and patience, students unlock the potential and experience the rewards of this impactful discipline. Ashtanga is not a mere physical exercise; it's a journey of transformation, with the added benefits of increased strength, flexibility, and mental clarity.
