Welcome to Haylands Preschool, a perfect learning center for your children. We are proud to have been serving the local community on Portland for over 50 years, and we are committed to providing high-quality childcare and early education in a safe, caring, and friendly environment.
Haylands Preschool is an OFSTED inspected and a Rights Respected School (RRS) that is part of the Nursery Education Funding Scheme. We offer a range of services to cater to the needs of children aged between 2 years and 6 months and 5 years for Preschool sessions, as well as Breakfast and After-School Clubs for children aged 2 years and 6 months to 11 years.

Our setting is registered for 40 children, and we offer Nursery Education Funded Sessions for eligible children. We are also registered to take funded 2-year-olds and offer up to 30 hours of funding for eligible children.
We believe that every child is unique, and we provide a variety of balanced and stimulating activities to help develop their individual skills and encourage social integration. Our experienced and dedicated staff are fully qualified, DBS checked, Safeguarding and PED First Aid trained, and participate in regular training to further their professional development.
The Setting
Haylands Preschool is a Registered Charity and is run by a Parent Committee and Management team. Our setting is a nurturing environment full of fun, creativity, and stimulation, which inspires all of our children to thrive and learn. We provide well-planned, purposeful activities and appropriate interventions that engage children in the learning process and help them make progress in their learning.
Haylands Preschool has a close relationship and links with St. George's Primary School, providing a valuable step between home and primary school. We work closely with parents and carers to support each child's unique development.

Haylands is an inclusive setting in which each child has equal opportunity, and we provide a valuable step between home and primary school, working closely with parents and carers to support their child's unique development.
We accept 2-year-old funding for eligible children and some families are eligible for 30 hours of funding. You can check eligibility at www.dorsetcouncil.gov.uk funding options. We can accept children for the full 30 hours per week.

We have a team of experienced, dedicated staff who have created a special environment for Pre-school children. All staff are DBS checked, Safeguarding and PED First Aid trained, and partake in regular training to further their professional development. Our allocated staff roles include:

Committee
HAYLANDS Preschool is a Registered Charity and is run by a Parent Committee and Management team. All of our committee members and staff are DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) checked prior to commencing work with and in the Preschool setting.
Eligibility
Haylands is registered for 40 children between the ages of 2 years and 6 months and 5 years for Preschool sessions. Our Breakfast and After-School Clubs cater for 2 years and 6 months to 11 years.
