Established two decades ago, The Cithrah Foundation began with a vision of providing a safe haven for women facing domestic abuse. This vision became a reality on April 14th, 2008, with the successful inauguration of Cithrah as a refuge for those seeking comfort and protection. Based in Carrickfergus, our foundation operates a drop-in center that offers assistance, counseling, information, and training for both volunteers and those navigating abusive relationships. Moreover, we run a women's refuge, offering a safe shelter for women and their families who have become homeless due to abusive situations.

Our primary goal at The Cithrah Foundation is to offer victims of abuse a pathway to safety by providing the necessary time and opportunities to access the help and support vital for their well-being. We are passionate about promoting a positive outlook that fosters hope and empowerment, affirming that there is always a pathway to recovery and a fulfilling life beyond the impact of abuse. Our focus is on highlighting the inherent strengths and capabilities within individuals and families, empowering them to pursue a life aligned with their aspirations rather than that dictated by their perpetrator. We aim to provide support and care, reinforcing the idea that a promising future is within reach for all those we assist.

When We Can Help

Some victims manage to leave independently, while others may not realize that assistance is available.
