Established in 1995, Mainsgill Farmshop & Tearoom is a family-run business nestled in the picturesque North Yorkshire countryside. Our story began when our family moved to the farm, where we continued the traditional methods of rearing our own cattle, lambs, and pigs. We started selling our home-reared produce to the local community in 1997, maintaining our commitment to sustainable farming practices.

Our mission is to provide the highest quality, locally-sourced, and farm-reared produce to our customers. We believe in the importance of preserving traditional farming methods, and our goal is to educate our community about the importance of British agriculture. Our farmshop offers a unique shopping experience, with a shop floor to our livestock farm, ensuring that our products have 'food miles' of zero.
Our Farm Shop
At Mainsgill Farmshop, we offer a wide range of products, including our own traditionally home-reared beef, lamb, and pork. Our butchery provides a variety of meats, from grass-fed beef to home-reared pork, all locally sourced and of the highest quality. Our foodhall offers a selection of fresh produce, many locally supplied, and a range of Mainsgill homemade pies and artisan produce.
Sustainability at Mainsgill
At Mainsgill, we are committed to sustainability. We have implemented various initiatives to reduce our carbon footprint, including growing our own crops, using straw to bed our turkeys and cattle in the winter months, and minimizing food miles. Our passion is to provide the highest quality, locally-sourced products, while promoting sustainable farming practices and preserving traditional farming methods.
Tea Room and Events
In addition to our farm shop, we have a delightful tearoom serving freshly prepared homemade cakes, light bites, and lunches. We also host events throughout the year, such as Lambing Live, which allows visitors to get up close and personal with our animals. Our gift hall offers a range of unique gifts, including original paintings, artwork, and prints, making it the perfect destination for birthdays, anniversaries, or just a special treat.
