I am Maeve O'Donnell, your acupuncturist and healthcare provider. My journey in the healthcare field spans over 30 years, during which I have gained extensive experience and training in various settings. I began my career as a nurse in 1983 and furthered my education with a psychology degree. I subsequently worked as a research nurse at the University of Oxford Department of Public Health for 14 years. My passion for acupuncture led me to become a qualified and registered acupuncturist in 1992. I am a full member of the Association of Acupuncture Clinicians and adhere to their Code of Safe Practice. Additionally, I have studied both Swedish and Chinese massage, incorporating these techniques into my acupuncture sessions.
My practice focuses on treating people experiencing pain and stress, using acupuncture and massage in combination. I also coach clients in mindfulness and lifestyle, particularly healthy posture and exercise. I have pursued in-depth postgraduate studies in musculoskeletal acupuncture, fertility and gynaecology, oncology and palliative care acupuncture, and acupuncture for neurological disorders. I am trained in Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction with 'Breathworks' and am a member of numerous professional organizations, including the British Acupuncture Federation, The Association of Acupuncture Clinicians, The UK Toyohari Association, The British Medical Acupuncture Society, The Acupuncture Fertility Network, and the Nursing and Midwifery Council.
Apart from my work at the clinic, I continue to practice as a nurse in palliative care. In this setting, I use acupuncture to alleviate symptoms such as cancer-related pain and fatigue, nausea, digestive issues, anxiety, and insomnia. My clinic in Stonesfield is easily accessible from Oxford, Woodstock, Charlbury, Witney, Banbury, Chipping Norton, and other central Oxfordshire areas.
