Our Story
At Bakery 164, we take pride in our rich history and tradition of serving exceptional sandwiches and coffee. Since 1994, we have been a staple in the heart of Leeds, located on Woodhouse Lane, opposite the Parkinson Building of the University of Leeds. Our iconic red facade and neon sign make us impossible to miss. Over the years, we have built a strong relationship with the students and locals of Leeds, who appreciate our commitment to quality and dedication to using only the freshest ingredients.
Our Craft
Our craft is centered around our handmade ciabatta and focaccia bread, which is made every night in our bakeries. We use a simple recipe, designed primarily to complement our fillings and make a great sandwich. Our dough is hand mixed and hand shaped into each individual sandwich, every day, by us. We're proud of our commitment to using only five ingredients: extra virgin olive oil, salt, water, yeast, and flour.
Our Bread
At Bakery 164, we're passionate about our bread, and we spend considerable time and effort to ensure it meets our high standards. We use a strong white flour from Canada, and our water is drawn from a natural source. Our process is meticulous, and every step is carefully monitored to ensure consistency and quality. We don't believe in using preservatives or additives, which is why our bread is truly artisanal. Every loaf is baked in our ovens after being hand mixed and hand shaped.
Our Sandwiches
We're renowned for our unique ciabatta and focaccia sandwiches, which feature a delicious combination of Mediterranean and Middle Eastern flavours. Our fillings are vast, and we cater to vegetarians and vegans with a huge selection of options. We use seasonal produce from local suppliers wherever possible, ensuring that our ingredients are always fresh and of the highest quality. Our sandwiches are made with love, and we invite you to indulge in the perfect combination of taste, texture, and presentation.
Our Coffee
In addition to our delectable sandwiches, we also serve Italian-style coffee, expertly roasted to perfection. Our beans are carefully selected to ensure a rich and full-bodied flavour, perfect for a pick-me-up or a relaxing treat.
Our Commitment
At Bakery 164, we're dedicated to maintaining high standards and upholding our commitment to quality and freshness. We believe in building strong relationships with our customers and the local community. We're proud to be a part of the fabric of Leeds and look forward to continuing to serve the city with the best sandwiches, coffee, and bread for years to come.
