Tell Your Story, Beautifully.

Westover CrossFit is a fitness regimen developed by Greg Glassman over several decades. Glassman, the founder of CrossFit, was the first person in history to define fitness in a meaningful, measurable way: increased work capacity across broad time and modal domains. He then created a program specifically designed to improve fitness and health. This is quite unique, as most people would define fitness in terms of strength, muscle mass, or appearance, rather than increased work capacity.

What is CrossFit?

CrossFit is a constantly varied functional movement performed at high intensity. All CrossFit workouts are based on functional movements, and these movements reflect the best aspects of gymnastics, weightlifting, running, rowing, and more. These are the core movements of life. They move the largest loads the longest distances, so they are ideal for maximizing the amount of work done in the shortest time. Intensity is essential for results, and it is measurable as work divided by time - or power. The more work you do in less time, or the higher the power output, the more intense the effort. By employing a constantly varied approach to training, functional movements and intensity lead to dramatic gains in fitness.

Harnessing Community and Camaraderie

The community that spontaneously arises when people do these workouts together is a key component of why CrossFit is so effective, and it gave birth to a global network of CrossFit affiliates that number over 13,000. Harnessing the natural camaraderie, competition, and fun of sport or game yields an intensity that cannot be matched by other means. While CrossFit challenges the world's fittest, the program is designed for universal scalability, making it the perfect application for any committed individual, regardless of experience. We scale load and intensity, and we don't change the program. The needs of Olympic athletes and our grandparents differ by degree, not kind.

A World-Class Fitness in 100 Words

As per Greg Glassman, "Eat meat and vegetables, nuts and seeds, some fruit, little starch and no sugar. Keep intake to levels that will support exercise but not body fat. Practice and train major lifts: Deadlift, clean, squat, presses, C&J, and snatch. Similarly, master the basics of gymnastics: pull-ups, dips, rope climb, push-ups, sit-ups, presses to handstand, pirouettes, flips, splits, and holds. Bike, run, swim, row, etc., hard and fast. Five or six days per week, mix these elements in as many combinations and patterns as creativity will allow. Routine is the enemy. Keep workouts short and intense. Regularly learn and play new sports."

Meet Our Owner/Head Coach

I've been in the health and fitness industry for over 20 years now, predominantly as a personal trainer and Strength and Conditioning coach. I have been lucky enough to attend some amazing conferences, seminars, and workshops, learning from some incredible speakers and coaches from all over the world. I'm sure many people's first impression of CrossFit would be the same as all the other fads, dismissing it after having had their fingers burnt by false promises in the past. I must confess when I first heard about it years ago, this was my initial reaction. It all changed when I did my first WOD (Workout of the day). READ MORE
