The Wise Body is a yoga and meditation practice based in the picturesque region of Kent. Our mission is to help individuals achieve a holistic approach to promote health and wellbeing, by harmonising body, mind, and breath. We believe that yoga gently rejuvenates the body, and by restoring the body, yoga frees the mind from the negative feelings and stress caused by the fast pace of modern life.

Our Team

Lina has been practising yoga since 1975 and has gained experience with yoga teachers from different traditions. She has taught yoga to adults, children, pregnant women, seniors, and students with additional needs such as MS. Lina also teaches meditation and is a qualified Yoga for Healthy Backs tutor. She has a City & Guilds Level 4 Certificate in Education, is a BWY (British Wheel of Yoga) Foundation Course & Diploma course tutor, and has completed a BWY Post Graduate Module in Meditation. Lina teaches a BWY Teacher Training course in both Canterbury and Oxted and also takes private classes, as well as teaching at retreat weekends and monthly meditation days at Claridge House in Surrey.

Philip has been working with bodywork since 1995, starting as a therapeutic masseur. He then trained at the Academy of On-Site Massage UK and took further qualification training in Shiatsu, Tuina & Anma (all Oriental Acupressure therapies). Philip is a qualified practitioner in Structural Integration, having completed Tom Myers' Kinesis training in Boston, USA. He is also a Board Certificated Structural Integrator registered with IASI. Philip is a qualified facilitator and runs massage workshops and training courses for other professionals.

Services Offered

At The Wise Body, we offer a variety of services to cater to your yoga and meditation needs. Our services include online yoga classes, yoga retreats and courses, yoga FAQs, private yoga sessions, and testimonials.

Our online yoga classes are conducted from the comfort and ease of your own home, via Zoom. Lina offers live group classes and workshops via Zoom, which is an excellent way to keep your body moving during this time. Our weekly classes include:

  • TUESDAY Yoga 4 Rejuvenation (2.00pm - 3.15pm) - All Abilities

This class allows you to explore what yoga is for you. It includes breathing practices and ends with a soothing relaxation.

  • WEDNESDAY Meditation Hour (3.00pm - 4.00pm) - All Abilities

These mindfulness techniques for health and wellbeing help find a balance in our lives.

  • WEDNESDAY Yoga 4 Strength Flexibility & Relaxation (6.30pm - 7.45pm) - Mixed Ability

A more challenging class, that will help to build your strength, stamina, and reduce stress and tension. Includes inversions, pranayama, and deep relaxation techniques.

  • THURSDAY Yoga 4 Healthy Backs & Basics (6.30pm - 7.45pm) - Beginners

Designed to give you the basics of yoga to keep your back strong and healthy.

To join the online classes, you will need to download the Zoom app onto your laptop, smartphone, or iPhone/iPad. Please send Lina a message via the contact button below if you wish to join the classes, and you will then be sent a link to the class via your email. Simply click onto the link 10 minutes before the class to go into a waiting room, where Lina will let you in.

Yoga Retreats and Courses

Our yoga retreats and courses offer a more in-depth exploration of yoga practices and philosophy. Our courses are suitable for those who would like to learn more about all the Yoga practices and philosophy and can be used as a route to teacher training. The BWY Foundation course level 2 is a 60-hour Yoga, Pranayama & Meditation tuition & personal guidance, with three in-person days at the Studio and 14 three-hour weekly online evening sessions. The course starts on Oct 28th and is taught by Cora Kemball-Cook & Lina Newstead. To save your space, please contact us.
