Our Story
Archipelago Bakery is a small, independent, and organic bakery located in the heart of Edinburgh's New Town. Our journey began when our founder, Caroline, decided to leave her career in finance and pursue her passion for cooking and baking. With a strong background in art and history, Caroline's love for food and baking led her to study the art of bread making in Paris, Oslo, and Sweden. Upon completing her training, Caroline returned to Edinburgh and opened Archipelago Artisan Bakery in 2014.
Our Philosophy
At Archipelago, we believe in simplicity and quality. We use only 100% organic flour and implement old-fashioned techniques such as cold water and proved bread to create our delicious bread. We also prioritize using local and seasonal produce to ensure that every item we bake is made with passion, pride, and integrity. Our team is passionate about producing the best quality goods every day, and our commitment to customer satisfaction is at the top of our list.
Our Services
At Archipelago, we offer a wide range of freshly baked goods every day. For breakfast, we have a variety of pastries, scones, toast with homemade low-sugar jams, banana and wholemeal spelt bread, and breakfast granola bars. For lunch, we serve a delicious vegan soup, accompanied by a selection of salads, baked tarts, spanakopita, veggie sausage rolls, and Mediterranean stuffed breads. In the summer, we offer Pan Bagnat, a fresh, crusty bread filled with vegetables, cheese, and herbs.
Our cakes and afternoon tea selection is constantly evolving, with new additions every few months to reflect the changing seasons. We keep a few popular dishes on our menu, including our famous sourdough bread and homemade chutney, but we also love to experiment with new recipes and ingredients.

At Archipelago, we also offer wholesale services to customers, including high-end delicatessens, whole-foods shops, cafes, restaurants, and village shops.
