Banners Gate Counselling Centre

Banners Gate Counselling Centre is a non-profit making, independent professional voluntary organisation that provides accessible and affordable counselling services to adults over 18 years of age in a safe, confidential environment. Our mission is to serve the local community by offering a warm, welcoming, and non-judgmental space where individuals can explore their thoughts, feelings, and experiences without fear of criticism or rejection.

Our History

Since our humble beginnings in 1997, we have been committed to providing high-quality counselling services to the local community. Over the years, we have expanded our operations, moving to our current premises in 2005 and becoming a Company Limited by Guarantee in 2003 and a Registered Charity in 2004. Today, we are proud to have a team of 15 counsellors and 7 receptionists, all of whom are volunteers, providing a potential of 45 counselling appointments per week.

Our Services

Our counselling services are designed to be flexible and adaptable to the needs of our clients. We offer both in-person and remote sessions (via video platforms such as Zoom or by telephone) to ensure that our services are accessible to everyone. Our counsellors use a Person Centred/Integrative counselling approach, treating all clients with dignity and respect, regardless of individual differences. We also provide a limited number of placement opportunities to counsellors studying for a Diploma or Degree in local universities, including those working towards accreditation with BACP.
