Reliable, Efficient, and Friendly Service, Any Time, Any Day

At Barefoot Yoga, we believe in the power of yoga to connect us to ourselves, each other, and the world around us. Our approach is inspired by the idea that every step we take is an opportunity to feel the earth beneath our feet and to cultivate a sense of grace and curiosity. We call our yoga "barefoot" because it is grounded in the present moment and the sensations that arise within our bodies as we move and breathe.

Our classes are suitable for people of all ages and abilities, and we offer a range of options to suit your needs and interests. Our Dynamic Hatha Yoga class is a flowing practice that explores the natural energetic lines of your body and cultivates a sense of embodiment and nourishment. Our Early Morning Slow Flow class is a gentle way to start your day, with a focus on mindful movement and conscious breathing. Our Restorative Practice Based on Contemplative Breathing is a monthly class that helps you settle into a state of deep peace and awareness. We also offer one-to-one yoga sessions and workshops on a variety of topics, including Three Elements Yoga, Better Sleep, Meditation, Kirtan, and Discovering Unity.

At Barefoot Yoga, we value the breath as a source of life and wisdom. We believe that when we learn to value and cultivate our breath, we can find the edge between humanity and the divine. Our classes incorporate breathing practices that help you connect to your inner experience and the world around you. We also offer a Meditation Series called "Inviting Grace, " which is a five-week contemplation on the power of grace to transform our lives.

As a teacher, Derek Elliott aims to nurture an environment in which people can learn how to be their own best teachers. He believes that the role of the teacher is not to determine how your body should be or how you should feel, but rather to offer structure and support as you explore your own experience with love and respect. Derek's teaching is influenced by a variety of traditions, including Ashtanga, Iyengar, and Viniyoga, and he is committed to ongoing learning and growth as a teacher and practitioner.

We are proud to offer our classes at the Vishuddha Centre, a new yoga studio on Osney Island near the railway station in Oxford. The studio has been built specifically for yoga and features a light-filled practice space by the river Thames. We are grateful for the opportunity to share our practice with this community and look forward to welcoming you to Barefoot Yoga.
